This circular hiking around the highest point of continental Portugal provides magnificent views of the surrounding territory. Despite the apparent aspect of “heartbreaking” landscape along this route, you will learn some of the most important and unique habitats, animals and unique plants that characterize the upper level of this mountain. A plateau with sub-alpine features, where the vegetation is little more than crawling and herbaceous shrubs, forming shrub areas interspersed with altitude meadows, the “cervunais”, the ponds and the natural lakes of glacial origin, with the constant presence of granite.
Altitude difference: 243m (minimum quota – 1750m; maximum level – 1993m)
Beginning and end of tour: Torre
Points of interest: Ponds and lakes – Covão das Quelhas, Covão do Meio, Covão do Boieiro, Salgadeiras, Cântaro Gordo.

At Faia Brava Reserve’s feeding station for vultures, we have a hide to promote the observation and photography of this scavengers and endangered birds.
This hide has capacity for 4 photographers. It is 4x3m in size and its interior height varies between 1,80m and 1,70m. It is divided into 2 rooms, an entrance hall (with space for storage) and the photo room.
Target species
During Spring and Summer: Egyptian Vulture (Neophron percnopterus), Griffon (Gyps fulvus) and the occasional Black Vulture (Aegypius monachus). The Black Kite (Milvus migrans) is also present and sometimes the Red Kite (Milvus milvus).
During Autumn and Winter: Griffon vulture (Gyps fulvus) and occasionally the Black Vulture (Aegypius monachus), also Red Kite (Milvus milvus).
